The Sustainable Energy Institute (SEI) is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization that was formed to improve public awareness and understanding worldwide of the debates over future energy supply and demand options and their implications, and enhance democratic decision making on energy technologies. As an independent voice, SEI provided a balanced perspective on energy choices while promoting the development of new energy technologies and working to reduce the impact of the existing options on public health and safety and the environment. The Sustainable Energy Roundtable Series, Sustainable Energy Top Ten Awards, and SEI publications were used to promote awareness and intelligent debate on sustainable energy solutions. SEI was active from 2001—2006; its website continues to be maintained for reference purposes until possible future resumption of SEI’s activities.
