INTERNATIONAL SUSTAINABLE ENERGY LEADERS (ISEL) INITIATIVE:
SEI is compiling a database of International Sustainable Energy Leaders (ISEL). The individuals selected from this list by SEI's board for their efforts to develop and promote sustainable energy policies and practices worldwide, will be recognized and profiled in a report to be published by SEI this Fall.
SEI is considering leadership in areas including: strategies for reducing carbon and other emissions from fossil fuels; energy efficiency measures; renewable energy technologies; low-and zero-emission vehicles; next-generation nuclear energy technologies; mass transit and smart growth policies; and carbon sequestration technologies. In short, these award recipients are leaders who have made major contributions to maximizing energy security while minimizing pollution and environmental degradation.
The selected candidates will be individuals whom SEI’s board of directors judges to be highly influential proponents of sustainable energy policy and practices worldwide, with an emphasis on developing countries. The selection criteria include: (1) Dedication to innovative and progressive ideas on sustainable energy policies and practices; (2) Uncommon leadership within and beyond one’s own organization in advocating and implementing sustainable energy solutions; and (3) Major impact on national and international thinking and actual practices contributing to a sustainable energy future. SEI also seeks institutional and geographical diversity among these individuals.
